Cordell Garfield ran a great workshop on how to paint portraits in oils for us on Sat 24th Jan. Most of us used our own images to work from, and were quite pleased with what we created. Cordell is a successful professional portrait painter himself, and gave us some useful guidelines about the proportions and bone structure of the face, the planes of the head, and also the colour temperature of the different sections of the face.
When we put all the portraits together we were quite surprised by the quality of our work. We all went home feeling very satisfied, after an interesting and absorbing day.
