Demonstration by David Bennison

At our last meeting on Friday 7 February we were given a demonstration by David Bennison on the art of curvilinear paintings and drawings. He admitted he is obsessed with perspective and his pictures show several points of focus, not just the usual one.

This makes his pictures look as though you are looking through a fish-eye lens, with subjects viewed from front, side and above in one canvas. Engineering and architectural perspectives make the pictures more understandable, but each painting takes David several months or years to complete and he has put several aside as he was dissatisfied with them.

He admires Escher's paintings and tries to emulate his work. An interesting evening.
